at home with the oscars

The Oscars are a wonderful time for fabulous fashion . . . Pair your favourite gown with a lovely interior.

The stunning Stacy Keibler wore a lavish liquid-gold lamé Marchesa gown. The rose on her hip is beautifully wrapped around her body shaping her gorgeous figure.

This vanity is covered with luxurious fabric like Stacy's gown and accented with dainty bottles and antique frames.

Gwyneth Paltrow stunned the audience with a ravishing Tom Ford white gown and cape. This dress shows just enough letting us know that she is truly an elegant lady.

This crisp white living room is simple and elegant much like Gwyneth's dress. Sometimes the best details are the simple ones.

Nominated for her role in Bridesmaids, the incredibly lovely and humorous Kristen Wiig floated across the red carpet wearing a J. Mendel gown and Neil Lane gems.

The luxurious lace curtains are much like Kristen's light and lovely gown.

Sofia Vergara from Modern Family glistened in a white appliquéd gown at the Vanity Fair Party in West Hollywood. The detail in this dress is incredible and fits her perfectly.

The intricate carvings in the ceiling are a true work of art and compliment the ravishing chandelier with sparkly crystals. This room is a complete match to Sofia's gown.

Emma Stone from The Help is vibrant in her royal red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown.  Her vintage style gown was a fabulous choice for the red carpet at the Oscars.

This vibrant bathroom screams red hot just like Emma's dress.

mid century dining room

Step back in time to the mid century era and transform your dining room into an eclectic space.  The oversized white crystal chandelier really softens the look against the teak and orange.  Love the gold accents on the chairs!

gold in the bedroom

Gold accents can instantly add so much elegance to a bedroom.  With a few tricks, you can make your boudoir glamorous.

This boudoir is completely stunning . . . The Italian gold accents are what truly make this room a place of elegance.  The grays and crisp white sheets give an everlasting comfort and warmth to the room.

This antiqued gold mirror is a beautiful accent in this bedroom and the grouping of small prints is a lovely accent next to it.  If you are working with a small room, an oversized mirror can instantly double the size of your space!

Gigantic mirrors placed on the floor and leaning against a wall are a personal favourite of mine
and a must have in a bedroom or changing area.

a pair of clawfoot tubs

What is more desirable than a free standing clawfoot tub?  Your own free standing clawfoot tub!  At times, there may be the option to have his & her sinks and his & her closets, why not have your very own tub!  So elegant with the dark shutters against white walls and an antique piece to accent the room.

fireplaces & stacked wood

A fireplace is an area where friends and family can comfortably gather together and enjoy the warmth and view of the burning logs.  Stack lots of wood around your fireplace, this acts as a unique and natural art piece.

DIY valentine's scrabble

I surprised my boyfriend Nathan on Valentine's Day with this scrabble picture.  Something so simple as this can really put a smile on your Valentine's face!

[Image taken by Sara Russell Interiors]

What you will need:
 - Scrabble Letters
 - A glue gun
 - A picture frame

Instructions
I called a gamming manufacturer and asked for 9 scrabble letters and it was delivered within 2 weeks and for free!  Make sure you measure the size of all the letters together on a piece of paper to know what size picture frame you will need.  Now glue gun the letters down, wait at least an hour to dry, wrap and give to your Valentine!
